This tour departs from south Marco Island during the best tidal times to travel into the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge during sunset. Tours last 2 to 3 hours depending on sunset. Your naturalist guides will lead you at a comfortable pace into the Ten Thousand Islands through large open mangrove lined waterways making stops along the way at pristine island beaches for a nice break and to enjoy shelling opportunities. As sunset approaches, you will paddle out to an ocean inlet of the Gulf of Mexico for an opportunity to view an expansive gorgeous Florida sunset from the waters edge! During your travels, enjoy great opportunities to encounter and learn about: dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, crabs, conch, whelk, sea urchins, seashells, oyster beds, starfish, mangroves, fish, birds & more! After the sun has set, your guide will lead you back during nautical twilight where the softly lit sky is filled with awesome colors and marine life continue to thrive.

The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is actually located off the coast of southern Marco Island, FL. Your tour will begin in Marco Island, FL and will return to this same location in Marco Island, FL (see more details above). Kayaking distance is approximately 2 miles (just the right amount for beginner level kayaking). When you arrive for your tour, our certified coastal naturalist guides will meet you out front to help you prepare for your fun kayak adventure. See your email within 12 hours after booking for directions to your tour and for the start time of your tour. (Start times change everyday because, they are based on the tide. You can visit our online booking calendar to view our start times in advance. We are unable to list different daily start times here).

Required forms: per our insurance policy, each participant will be required to sign our participant agreement release & acknowledgement of risk and our equipment agreement waiver & release of liability forms onsite prior to participating in any activities. (Please contact us if you need these forms in advance or if you have any questions regarding these forms. They are common and are required for water sports activities. Even though, this is a relatively safe activity, please acknowledge this is an at your own risk activity where you and your minor will be kayaking in brackish & saltwater to view wildlife which can be unpredictable).
ALL MINORS MUST have a parent or legal guardian sign their "participant agreement release & acknowledgement of risk" and our "equipment agreement waiver & release of liability" forms. This is required for any minor to participate in any of our activities. (Please contact us if you need these forms in advance for a parent to sign).
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Adults must present a drivers license, passport or valid picture ID onsite in order to participate.
Minors ages 8-13 are allowed to paddle in a tandem, but must have an adult in the same kayak with them.
Minors aged 4-7 may ride in the middle seat near their parent when two seats are booked in a tandem. There is plenty of room for comfort and to extend your legs.
Kayak tours are designed for easy/beginner level. However, you should decide if you're in sufficient health to participate in this activity. At times currents and winds can change direction requiring additional effort. All participants that ride in a paddling seat must be physically fit, able and willing to paddle. Otherwise, they can ride in the center seat with two other paddlers in the kayak, so long as weight requirements are met.
No alcohol permitted. Cannot be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date if available or full refund.
Free 10 digital photos are taken during your tour for your group and are shared easily with you via google drive within 24-48 hours excluding holidays.
All participants weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Weight Limits cannot exceed the following: single seat kayak weight limit is 350 lbs, tandem weight limit is 250 lbs per participant or a combined weight of 500 lbs or less.
All participants must wear a lifejacket (PFD) when kayaking.
Recommended items to bring on your tour includes: Polarized sunglasses, Water resistant sunscreen lotion 50 SPF or greater, Sun shielding hat, Any personal items you will need and can't be without, Insect repellent, A zip lock baggie to place any items you want to prevent from getting wet (There is a sealed storage compartment to store items, often times it stays dry, however items can and may still get wet inside the compartment), Water shoes, Comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting wet (we recommend: lightweight or dri fit clothing, long or short sleeves and long shorts), Towel, Use the restroom before arrival (since we pick hot spots to see wildlife, some areas may not have bathrooms onsite), Sufficient bottled water and snacks for a two and a half hour kayak tour, A Happy Disposition & Smiles for Pics & Videos of your Great Kayak Adventure (photos are a free service we provide. if you do not want your photo taken just simply let us know).
PARKING: This is a specialized tour into the 10,000 Islands. The county has new 2021 regulations for everyone regarding access/parking into this area. Since, we hold a commercial permit and are a licensed Collier County business, we have access to this location to provide tours so, you can experience this wonderful adventure. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to shuttle or taxi/uber etc. to your tour. Parking is NOT guaranteed and is extremely limited to only a dozen spots at any of the 10,000 Islands launch sites per new 2021 Collier County rules. Driving may result in: no parking found or parking offsite which would result in walking to your tour from there. If you drive, please do not park in non parking areas or “boat trailer only” parking spots as the county is enforcing parking fees/fines. Parking fees/fines that you may incur are not included in this tour. If you choose to drive: it is advisable to leave early to secure one of the dozen non-trailer parking spots in advance but, please keep in mind a spot may never become available. Certain days of the week may yield different parking circumstances. We do not provide a shuttle or transportation service to your tour. Be sure to plan in advance for your arrival. No shows will not receive a refund for their tour. Full refunds are issued if your tour is cancelled 24 hours in advance. Please travel safely.

We had so much fun on our sunset kayak tour! Naples Kayak Adventures is clearly passionate about what they do and provided a great experience. We saw a dolphin first thing, found beautiful shells, learned about local wildlife, and saw a breathtaking sunset!

This was a beautiful experience. Our tour guides Laura and Mike went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed all the aspects of the experience. They were kind, knowledgeable about the rich wildlife of Estero Bay and keen to share their passion for nature. We got to see the bay and canals surrounded by mangroves, paddled on a quick water stream (rip-tide like) in the estuary leading out of bay onto the Gulf and once in the open ocean we got to witness the beautiful Southwest Florida sunset, while sitting on our kayaks. We were shown a wide variety of wildlife: pelicans, various marine birds, even a close-up with dolphins. We would definitely recommend this Kayak experience. The whole family will keep a keen memory of the trip and our kind hosts !

The naturalist were so well informed, kind, and fun....not to mention wildlife whisperers! One of the best experiences of my life! The manatees swimming with us were amazing, dolphins, oyster beds....sunset, stars, shelling, black mangroves, red mangroves, countess birds....The experience was so amazing it was worth 4x the cost! I would do it again!

We were on the sunset tour and we loved it! This was truly a wonderful experience! Mike told us so much about the wildlife and the plants whilst Laura was looking for were creatures might hang out. We got to see a lot of birds, fish AND a manatee! They then brought us to a small island to do a bit of shelling and to watch the sunset. This tour exceeded our expectations-we highly recommended this tour!

We (a family of four with two kids aged 8 and 12) did a two-week round trip to Florida together with another family of four. We started with a couple of days including New Years Eve in Miami, and then we picked up our rental cars, driving through Everglades on our way to Naples. Planning ahead we had decided to find a water experience in Naples, and soon we ended up on looking for a kayak adventure for 6 of us (the youngest kid and his father did something else) we found several providers, but we soon decided upon the Naples Kayak Adventures and their sunset tour, it seemed like a really enjoyable experience being able to see dolphins close up, collect seashells and seeing the sunset – and get a whole bunch of pictures and a film afterwards. But there were nothing available the dates we were in mind – I took the liberty to send a request on e-mail, and we soon got the response, they set up an extra tour just for us! What a service – huge thanks! And the day we were all set we were arriving late, had not anticipated the heavy evening traffic, but no worries, we still got the whole experience. We had the weather on our side, sunny and warm, and the guides told us a lot about the eco system – the Mangroves in particular. And then we met the dolphins, playing around our kayaks, lovely experience! Just before sunset we made a short stop at an island with lots of shells, really lovely, we got bags for collecting and we did…. And in the end we sat in the kayaks enjoying the sun set before heading back to where we started. And within 48 hours we got an email with lots of photos and a film. So don’t worry about not taking any yourself. I had my phone in a watertight pocket, but didn’t bring it out. You get wet and sweaty, so don’t risk your phone encountering saltwater ☺ The only small downside of this trip is that when you’re paddling in a long row as we did most of the time, you can’t really hear what the guides say, them most often being in the front. And just a reminder…. You will need to paddle yourself! They told us that people came in high-heeled shoes, thinking that the guides did the paddling. Wear crocs or similar, some comfortable training clothes, sunscreen (!), and don’t worry about not having done this before, but I think you should be reasonably fit, as it needs you to make an effort.

We just experienced the Sunset & Dolphin Kayak Tour with Mike and Laura. We had a great time. They are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to make it a memorable experience. They met us at the prearranged location and had everything ready to go when we arrived. We toured the mangroves and then kayaked into the Gulf to watch a beautiful sunset. Along the way we did some shelling on private beaches. Before returning we watched a dolphin feeding directly in front of our Kayak. We highly recommend this tour. It’s a great evening on the water.

My sister and I went on the sunset kayaking tour and had an amazing time. The tour is wonderful, we learned alot about the local wildlife and sealife. The sunset and watching the dolphins from the kayak was an experience I will not forget. I highly recommend this!!

Alles leicht zu finden. Gute Einweisung von den tour guides. Wir haben richtig viele Tiere gesehen und genau das richtige Maß an Anstrengung gehabt. Es war ein Abenteuer auf das offene Meer zu fahren und den Sonnenuntergang zu bestaunen. Gut fanden wir auch die kleine Gruppe.

Die Tour war einfach fantastisch. Unsere Guides Mike und Laura waren einfach toll und super nett. Wir haben wirklich sehr viel über die Flora und Fauna in den Mangroven, Delfine und viele andere Ozean-Bewohner gelernt. Gesehen haben wir: Waschbären, Delfine, zahlreiche Vogelarten, karibische Krebse, Mangroven-Krebse, eine Riesen-Seeschnecke, springende Fische, Wasser-speiende Austern, die berühmten Sand-Dollars, etc. Zuerst paddelten wir durch die Mangroven, um anschließend - als es langsam auf den Sonnenuntergang zuging - aufs offene Meer hinauszufahren. Eine wundervolle Kulisse. Wir rasteten auf einer kleiner Insel, die nur bei Ebbe begehbar ist. Wir sammelten Muscheln, unser Kleiner jagte hunderte Vögel und wir sahen den Sonnenuntergang über dem offenen Meer zusammen mit Delfinen. Auch für Familien mit kleineren Kindern absolut zu empfehlen!
